Which Canadian coins are silver?
- Dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars dated 1966 or earlier are silver: 80% from 1920, sterling (92.5%) before that.
- 1967 dimes and quarters were made in both 80% and 50% silver. Half dollars and dollars dated 1967 are 80%.
- 1968 dimes and quarters were made in 50% silver and in pure nickel. A magnet picks up the nickel coins but not the silver ones.
- From 1969, circulating Canadian coins contain no silver.
Canada’s Silver and Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins are listed with the bullion coins.
