This page explains what information JinglePig.com collects when you use the site, why, and the choices you have. Last updated October 23, 2026.
The short version
- You can use every tool on JinglePig without an account and without giving us your name or email address.
- We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and tools are used. It sets cookies.
- If you send a message or a problem report, we keep it privately to read and reply. An email address is optional and used only to reply to you.
- We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t show ads or use advertising cookies today.
Information you choose to send us
Contact form
The Contact form sends us the topic you pick, your message, your email address if you choose to leave one, and your browser’s name and version (to help us fix display problems). Messages are stored privately in the site’s database, where only site administrators can see them, and a copy is emailed to us through our email provider so we can reply. Your email address is used only to reply to your message. It is never published, sold or added to a mailing list.
Problem reports
The “Report a problem with this page” box sends us your answers, the address of the page you were on (including any numbers you had entered in a calculator on that page) and your browser’s name and version. Reports are stored privately in the same way and are never published.
Spam protection
To stop automated spam, each form checks how long it was open and how many messages have come from the same connection recently. For this, your IP address is turned into a scrambled code that can’t be turned back into the address, kept for one hour and then deleted. Your IP address is not stored with your message.
Please don’t include sensitive personal details, such as financial or government ID numbers, in a message.
Analytics
JinglePig uses Google Analytics, a service from Google, to understand how the site is used: for example, which pages and tools are visited, roughly where visitors are (country or city), what kind of device and browser they use, and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology to collect this information, and Google processes it under its own privacy policy. We use these reports only in summary form to improve the site; we don’t use them to identify you.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can block Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, by blocking cookies in your browser, or with a content blocker.
Cookies and storage in your browser
- Google Analytics cookies (names starting with
_ga) recognize repeat visits. They can last up to two years unless you delete them. - Your display choices, dark mode and larger text, are saved in your own browser (local storage) so the site remembers them. They are never sent to us.
- Show Board settings are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share your board. Nothing is stored on our server.
- Site administrators who log in get the standard WordPress login cookies. Visitors don’t need to log in.
You can delete or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings. The site still works without them; it just won’t remember your display choices.
Server logs
Like nearly every website, our web host keeps standard server logs of requests to the site, which include IP addresses, browser details, the pages requested and the time. These logs are used for security, to stop abuse and to fix problems.
Who else handles information
- Our web host (DreamHost), which stores the site, its database and server logs.
- Google, for Google Analytics, and Google Search Console, which reports how the site appears in Google search.
- Our email provider, which delivers copies of Contact messages to us.
- Our backup storage, which keeps copies of the site and its database, including stored messages, so the site can be restored if something goes wrong.
- Metal price providers (such as Gold-API.com) receive requests only from our server. Your browser never contacts them, and they receive no information about you.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the site, its users or others from fraud or abuse.
Links to other websites
JinglePig links to other websites, such as the US Mint. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy doesn’t cover.
Advertising, affiliate links and accounts in the future
JinglePig doesn’t show ads or use advertising cookies today. If we add advertising, affiliate links or optional accounts, we will update this policy before we do, explain what changes and what choices you have, and label ads and affiliate links clearly.
How long we keep information
We keep messages and problem reports only as long as we need them to reply, fix problems and improve the site, then delete them. The scrambled spam-protection code is deleted after one hour. Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting of our Google Analytics account. Server logs and backups are kept for limited periods set by our host and backup service.
Your choices and rights
- You don’t have to send us anything to use the site, and an email address is always optional.
- You can block or delete cookies, or opt out of Google Analytics as described above.
- You can ask us what information we hold from a message you sent, or ask us to delete it, through the Contact form. Please mention when you wrote and the email address you used, if any, so we can find it.
- Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local privacy laws. Contact us and we will help.
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Children
JinglePig is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), stored messages are visible only to site administrators, and we keep the site’s software up to date. No website can promise perfect security, so please don’t send sensitive information through the site.
Where information is processed
JinglePig is run from the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States and wherever our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Significant changes, such as adding advertising or accounts, will be made here before they take effect.
